What Customers Say About The Magician's Nephew:

Very quick, very good read. This book tells the story of how Narnia was created, how the White Witch came to be, and at the end, it tells why the wardrobe is made and what it's made out of.

Completed in the winter of 1954 and published in 1955, the prequel The Magician's Nephew brings the reader back to the very beginning of Narnia where we learn how Aslan created the world and how evil first entered it. The Magician's NephewThe Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy novels for children written by C. Lewis. After all The Magicians Nephew is the story of how Narnia was created and correlates with the book of Genesis

Older editions of the book reflect this decision. Lewis grandson later changed the order so that the books were in chronological order. Lewis placed The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe as the first book in the series. S.

Written by Lewis between 1949 and 1954 and illustrated by Pauline Baynes. The books contain Christian ideas made easily accessible to young readers. Many long-standing questions about Narnia are answered in the adventure that follows.Even though C. S. Digory Kirke and his friend Polly Plummer stumble into different worlds by experimenting with magic rings made by Digory's uncle (the titular "magician"), encounter Jadis (The White Witch), and witness the creation of Narnia.

In addition to Christian themes, Lewis also borrows characters from Greek and Roman mythology as well as traditional British and Irish fairy tales.Even though the Magician's nephew is the "Sixth" installment it should be read First. It is considered a classic of children's literature and is the author's best-known work, having sold over 120 million copies in 41 languages. They are not pedantic, however, and their richness of adventure, color, and ideas have made them favorites of children and adults, Christians and non-Christians.

As an adult, I like this this style because it gives my imagination a boost while reading, kind of like a reading with a video of the story going on in my head. This makes it great for reading to younger children who get a better grasp of the storie line when being able to link it with the drawings. If I had produced the Narnian series I would have had many many more of the colored drawings so that it would of been more of a picture book.I think the Narnian series is more a youthful read and not targeted for adults yet I enjoyed the read as dreamy relaxing childhood adventure that makes me wish I too could some day go to Narnia. I would have liked to read all the Narnian books in the following cronologically (Narnian time):The Magicians NephewThe Lion the Witch and the WardrobeThe Horse and His BoyPrince CaspianThe Voyage of the Dawn TreaderThe Silver ChairThe Last Battle This would have given me a better idea of what happened first and been less confusing when I encountered references in the story to the other characters or events that happened in the other books. But I ended up reading them randomly, which was fine. This publication of "The Magicians Nephew" was more enjoyable and should have been the standard for all the rest of the series. This book has many nice colored drawings that follow along with the story.

But for the price I am very happy. Not sure if it gets damaged in shipping. I was happy with shipping time and service. The cover had minor damage-I did think it would be in better condition.

They stumble upon the creation of a new world--Narnia, by Aslan. During their exploration they encounter an evil queen who follows them between worlds, as hers was at its end. Digory is forced to go in to rescue her and bring her back, but instead, being the adventure-seeking kids they were, decides to explore other worlds before returning home.

A 'prequel' to C.S. Lewis' story is full of symbolism that alludes to the Bible and the creation of our own world. "The Magician's Nephew" is a compelling and simple story of two young children who stumble upon worlds other than our own.

The two children, Digory and Polly find themselves tricked into doing Digory's uncle's dirty work when he offers Polly a magical ring that transports her to a mysterious place with doors into hundreds of foreign worlds. After this, several events occur that eventually lead to Aslan healing Digory's mother and the creation of the famed wardrobe from "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." This book is a great addition to the series and provides an interesting and entertaining look into the creation of Narnia and other unexplained events in the Narnia universe. Lewis' popular 'Chronicles of Narnia' series, this symbol-filled story takes readers back before "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" to a time before creation of Narnia, where the two main characters discover and witness the creation of Narnia.

As with the other books of the series, "The Magician's Nephew" has a deeper meaning than that of most children's books.
